Distribution platforms have broadened since Covid restrictions were put into place. The pandemic altered how the industry distributes movies and opened a wider spectrum of opportunities for digital releases.
From VOD (Video On Demand) and partnering theaters such as AMC) to the top rated platforms Netflix, Prime Video, Apple+, HBOMax, Disney +, Hulu, Peacock, Discovery+, Paramount+… The options continue to grow daily. At the moment consumers are accessing their content primarily via apps on their smart phones, streaming sticks, set top boxes, gaming consoles, smart TVs, even on 3D smart glasses…) Now there are possibilities, new venues filmmakers never had before.
The future path of exhibition will rely heavily on new marketing strategies, consumer engagement and new technologies.
